Protect your documents

A watermark shows who owns a document and discourages copying. Common examples are CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, SAMPLE, COPY or your company name.

Choosing a watermark style

A diagonal watermark at 20–30% transparency is visible on every page without hiding the content. Use large text for drafts and samples, and smaller text with your name or company for documents you share with clients. Red or gray works well on most documents.

When to watermark

Watermark drafts so they are not mistaken for final versions, mark samples and previews of paid work, label confidential documents shared outside your company, and stamp copies of ID documents with their purpose, for example “For bank KYC only”.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watermark ID copies for a specific purpose?

Yes — type a custom text such as “For rental agreement only” to discourage misuse of copies of your ID documents.

Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?

This tool adds text watermarks. Type your company or brand name to get a similar effect.

Can the watermark be removed?

The watermark is drawn onto each page. It is hard to remove with ordinary PDF readers, though no watermark is fully tamper-proof.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, so they stay completely private.

Is this tool really free?

Yes. It is 100% free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it.
